Pinterest Anyone?

I'm fairly new to Pinterest.  I started actively using it less than a month ago.  I like to poke around when I get a few minutes to myself.  And its much easier to use since I've finally figured out how to add the "Pin it" button to my toolbar.

Anyway, does anyone have an account?  I'll follow you if you follow me.

P.S. Is it bad that one of my biggest boards consists of food?  LOL

Tuesday's Tunes

Today's tune is Katy Perry's Firework.  It's such a feel-good-about-yourself song when you need it.  I have it as my ring tone and it's in everyone's head here.

New Facebook Page

Thank you all for being so patient with me.  I'm making some big change to the blog this week.  One of the newest updates is a separate facebook page to go with it.  Could you swing past The Thought that Counts on Facebook and "Like".  I want to get a nice URL for my facebook but I need 25 fans first.

New Address

I finally changed my URL to match my blog!  The switch SHOULD BE automatic for your Google Reader and Dashboards.  But, if not, could you please add my new URL as:

http://www.thethoughtthatcountsblog.com

And with that, I set up a new facebook page.  Be sure to "like" me there too:

WordPress or Blogger?

I started this blog a long time ago and left it sitting for most of the time.  Now, that I'm really working on building a successful blog, I'm wanting to start off on the right foot.  So, for those of you who have used both WordPress and Blogger, which do you prefer?  I do have a WordPress account, but I've never played with it enough to realize I like it more than Blogger.

I heard rumors that your readers can be transferred over. Is this true?  This was a big deal for me when I considered it a few months ago.

Which do you prefer as far as customizing the look of the blog.  I'm not too impressed with templates for my blog, so I want to be able to make changes pretty easy.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Etched in Stone (with Coupon Code)

I love engraving the black marble because it makes for a really unique and elegant piece. The black marble engraves a crisp white for high contrast so the image really stands out. Photos even engrave perfectly on it.

The black marble pieces are great for many occasions. You can engrave a photo on it and display it in your home in place of a photo in a frame.

Marble can hold up to all weather conditions, so your memorial pieces can be kept outside in a memorial garden.

I've also had customers engrave their diplomas, certificates and degrees in marble to display at their office. The marble plaques can also be engraved and presented as awards for promotions and recognition.

All of my marble pieces come with the proper accessories to display them immediately in your home or office. If you're having trouble with the design or the layout of how you'd like your marble piece to look, I can work with you to come up with a few different proofs for you to choose from also.

Now, here's you chance to save on all engraved marble pieces. Visit PictureIt Creations and use coupon code ETCHEDINSTONE at checkout to save 10% off of any marble purchase. Hurry, this offer expires July 31.

Can't decide on a gift? Leave it to the kids!

Is it me or is it easier to get our loved ones gifts after you have kids? As long as it has something to do with the kids, its the perfect gift, right? Not to say that letting the kids make the gift is any easier because on some (probably most) occasions, there has to be more effort and planning to pull this one off.

My kids are 5, 2, 2 and 10 weeks. Well, the baby doesn't help with much at this point. But he will! The three oldest ones like to make cards. I pull out that big bin of neglected scrapbooking supplies out of the closet and let them have at it. They get the markers, stamps, embossers, different papers, etc. and make a card showing off their newest skills in writing, drawing, coloring and using scissors. I always sign and date each of the cards for them (if they can't do it themselves) so it is something that we can look at over time and see how much they've improved in such a short amount of time.

I had this one really cute idea shortly after the twins were born. I printed out a poem for my Mom and Mother-in-law. Around the poem, we used finger paint to put hand prints and foot prints so Grandma and MeMaw could look back on their tiny prints. Of course, I didn't think to take a picture of them before they actually were given away. But they loved them!! I find most of my poems and quotes from The Quote Garden.

Another simple idea from the kids could be preparing a dessert or side dish, like we did for Father's Day last month. I recently started making ice cream sandwich cake and it is so easy the kids could practically make it themselves.

ICE CREAM SANDWICH CAKE
Ingredients:
Ice Cream Sandwiches (quantity depends on the size of your pan)
Cool Whip
Chocolate Sauce
Carmel Sauce
Walnuts
  1. Line the bottom of a baking dish with ice cream sandwiches.
  2. Spread a thin layer of Cool Whip on top.
  3. Lay out the rest of the ice cream sandwiches on top.
  4. Spread a good layer of Cool Whip on top.
  5. Drizzle Chocolate and Carmel Sauce on the top and Sprinkle with Walnuts.
  6. Put in the freezer to harden a little and slice it like lasagna to serve.
I want to hear your ideas. What kinds of gift ideas do you little ones help with?
