We've all had those days where the kids are bored with all of the toys they have in the house and nothing can seem to keep them interested for any length of time.  As a parent, I try to keep things new and exciting to them to keep their minds stimulated and make learning fun for them.  This can be difficult on some days, especially with the cold rainy weather now they are cooped up in the house too.

Surprise Ride is a real life saver for parents on days like these!  Surprise Ride is a subscription service that sends a box packed full of educational, hands-on activities for kids ages 6-11.  These activities are specifically chosen to encourage creativity and imagination.

Elphband & $125 Target Gift Card #Giveaway - Ends 10/31

ElphBandGiveaway

Welcome to the ELPH Band Giveaway Event! Mom Powered Media, ELPH Band, and fantastic group of amazing bloggers have come together to bring you this event, just in time for Halloween. Hosted by: Mom Powered Media Sponsored by: ELPH Band The ELPH Band is a link to your identifying information, such as your address, parent or guardian cell phone numbers and any other information you think is necessary, including medical conditions or drug allergies your child may have. Whether you're traveling to a theme park, zoo, park, a crowded festival or even the mall, the ELPH Band can help find your child in the event he/she gets separated from you. It only takes one second for a child to disappear out of your site.

  ElphBand_Call
The ELPH band is a non-toxic, durable, silicone wristband. It provides an immediate, highly visible form of identification with clear instructions directly on the band. It's easy to use with options to dial in or scan the QR code. ELPH Band does not put personal information, such as the child's name or phone number where people can see it when it isn't needed. What does ELPH stand for? Easy Lookup to Phone Home If your child get's separated from you, all your child needs to do is show an adult his/her ELPH band. That adult can then call the 800# or scan the QR code to get in touch with you to reunite your child with you! It's that simple! Once the QR code is scanned on a smartphone, a screen similar to the one below will pop up for them to get in touch with you.

This is something every parent fears and some may even think it won't happen to them.  But, it only takes a second and your child could easily walk away in a crowd.  My daughter slipped away from me a couple of years ago at the zoo.  Luckily she found a zoo employee to help her but they ended up taking her further away to their dispatch in case I called them.  If they had this information handy, I could have found her much sooner and spared myself the worst 30 minutes of my life.

Gravity Maze by ThinkFun Review

As much as I hate to admit it, Christmas is just around the corner and it's time to start thinking of new toys and games for the kids.   Every year, I try to get things for my kids that are good for their brain instead of just the popular fads that everyone will be bored with by next year.

This game, Gravity Maze was brought to my attention and I immediately thought of my oldest son, Conner.  He's very much like my husband, the way he is drawn to more science/put-your-brain-to-work kind of play.  I didn't think it was possible, but he actually put down the MINECRAFT and Pokemon cards to play this for a  good 45 minutes.

With Gravity Maze, a single player (preferably 8 years old or older) draws a card.  The card tells you how to start and end this maze using the colorful translucent towers.  The object is to stack and place the other towers to complete the maze.   To test if you won the challenge, you drop a marble at the beginning and it it ends up where the last tower is, you win. The towers can be stacked in all different directions and connected to each other to direct the marble where to go.  There are 60 different challenges to keep your mind working.  This is a great game for kids and adults to put their visual perception and reasoning skill to the test.

I love that it's simple. No batteries, no crazy 15 page instructions.  Its recommended for kids 8 and up but it wasn't long and my 6 year old twins were helping my 8 year old put the maze together too.  For 45 minutes, I had all electronics stowed away and all I heard was the sounds of my kids working together on this gravity powered game.

Where to get it:

If you're sure this would make the perfect gift for someone on your list this year, you can find Gravity Maze by ThinkFun on Amazon or on the ThinkFun website.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
